DnD Map V3 Prison Break

Image
Today in class we tested the third version of our DnD maps. This was also our final version for these DnD maps. For this map, we started at square one again and built a whole new map from the ground up using the knowledge and feedback that we had obtained from the previous 2 level designs. Usually, when we have playtested in the past, we have been in groups of three. However, there were an uneven amount of students in the classroom for my group to have 3 players. So I only had 1 player and he was Aidan L. who played two characters. The characters he selected were the Knight and the Mage. The Image is of the entire map: I was very excited to test out this map and all of its features. With that being said, many things went right during the playtesting of the level. In the first room I made the player face a somewhat challenging opponent so that they would lose health early on and use one of the potions that I had scattered all over the map. This would show the player how they can heal.

DnD Playtest V2

Today we did the second playtest for our DnD maps. Unlike the last playtest, this one was for version 2 of our maps so there were a lot of changes to everyone's maps. Two people played my map. Those people were Aidan L. who played the mage and Dominic A. who played the rouge. This means that I had a new player play testing my map this time, so I was able to get some fresh insight.  Below is an image of my map: In my opinion, I do feel like this playtest went a lot better than the last playtest that I had on this map. That being said, some things that went right would definitely be the player positivity. I feel like players were just more excited to see and play my map than in the last playtest. Another thing that went right would be the overall balance of the map. Last time my map was very open and didn’t have very many enemies, but in this version of the map I had a lot more enemies and that provided a real challenge and made the map more fun. This is what Aidan told me about th

Today was the test day for the first version of the DnD maps that we had. For the play test we split the class up into groups of three. The two people that were testing my map were Aidan L who played the rogue and Richard I who played the mage. Both individuals gave great feedback on my level. They mentioned both pros and cons on the level that were very helpful. Here is an image of my level: Some things that went right with the playtest was the fact that it was a close game. I made the boss very strong and maxed out all of its stats. Even when I did that I was thinking the boss might be too powerful, but the players used the terrain to their advantage to make the game a lot closer to an ending than I could have imagined. Another thing that went well was that the players were able to navigate the map with very little difficulty. I threw in a bunch of different shapes in the map as well as fog to try to confuse the players. I was afraid that this would make it too difficult for the pl
